Director of Family Ministries | Part-Time

Wesley Memorial UMC is seeking a Director of Family Ministries who will provide consistent, organized, and spiritually grounded leadership for children (birth–12th grade), youth, and their families. This role requires strong administrative capacity, thoughtful planning, volunteer coordination, and faithful collaboration with staff and families to cultivate vibrant, sustainable ministry.

Leadership
• Lead, engage, and disciple children and youth (ages birth–12th grade) and their families in the life of the church.
• Cultivate the spiritual lives of families by developing, coordinating, and supporting a team of dedicated ministry leaders who strive to live, love, and serve like Jesus.
• Recruit, train, and equip adult leaders and volunteers to support children’s and youth ministries across all age levels.
• Support and collaborate with parents and caregivers as partners in faith formation.
• Work collaboratively with staff and ministry volunteers to support spiritual growth, service, and discipleship.
• Communicate with staff, children, youth, families, and the wider congregation regarding ministry programs and events through email, social media, church publications, and other forums.

Programming
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee spiritual formation opportunities for children and youth, ensuring programs reflect and support the teachings and practices of the United
Methodist Church.
• Coordinate Sunday School for children and youth by selecting curriculum and materials, planning scope and sequence, and recruiting and training teachers.
• Plan and coordinate Children’s Church during Sunday morning worship services.
• Alongside staff and ministry volunteers, plan, coordinate, and implement Vacation Bible School, including volunteer recruitment and training, curriculum selection,
registration, and logistics.
• Plan and coordinate children’s and family programs and events, including Backpack Blessings, Trunk-or-Treat, Road to Bethlehem, Easter Egg Hunt, and other seasonal
opportunities.

Administration
• Assist in developing and managing appropriate sections of the annual ministry budget.
• Ensure Wesley’s Safer Sanctuaries policy is implemented and followed, including training and screening of volunteers and paid staff.
• Maintain and manage attendance records for children and youth.
• Manage building spaces in collaboration with the scheduling team to ensure facilities meet the needs of ministries.
• Oversee publicity and communication for all family ministry programs and events.
• Hire, train, and schedule paid nursery caregivers for Sunday School, worship services, and special services or events.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Attend Church Leadership Team (CLT) meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience in children’s, youth, or family ministry.
• Familiarity with or openness to United Methodist theology and practice.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and execute programs and events.
• Experience recruiting, training, and leading volunteers.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Administrative competence, including record-keeping and communication systems.
• Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Insurable driver.

Accompanist (piano/organ) | Part-Time/Contract

Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Accompanist (piano/organ) to support traditional worship through excellent sacred music. This role includes accompanying hymns, choir anthems, and special music for weekly services and rehearsals, as well as occasional weddings, funerals, and special services. The ideal candidate is a skilled musician who enjoys collaborating with choir and staff to help lead meaningful, Christ-centered worship.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Sacred Music, or comparable experience
  • Accompanist experience, choral preferred
  • Demonstrated competency reading music
  • Demonstrated competency playing WMUMC’s Rodgers Three-Manual Trillium Organ
  • Knowledge of traditional worship practices and sacred music in order to programappropriate musical selections

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and play special and/or supplemental music for the Traditional Service (prelude and postlude weekly; music during communion monthly and as needed; solo offertory anthem as needed).
  • Prepare and play hymns weekly for the Traditional Service.
  • Accompany weekly choir anthems for the Traditional Service, as well as anthems prepared by other individuals or groups as needed.
  • Accompany weekly choir rehearsals, as well as other rehearsals as needed (i.e.,soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists, etc.).
  • Coordinate with the Director of Traditional Music.
  • Prepare and play for weddings, funerals, and other special services as needed.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
